Where it starts
Every Shieldcoat product begins with an opportunity — a gap in the market, a chance to improve on what's already out there, or simply a better way of doing things. Our team starts by defining exactly what the product needs to achieve before any formulation work begins.
Formulation & testing
Our team creates tens of different variations of a single product before landing on the right one. Every version is tested for durability, UV resistance, how it pours, how it spreads off a brush or roller, and how it performs once cured. We're quick to adopt new technologies too — a formulation that's perfect today doesn't mean it's good enough tomorrow.
Production
Once a formulation is finalised, it moves into production. Raw materials are carefully measured and combined in large batches, following the exact specifications developed during testing, so every batch performs exactly like the last.
Decanting
Once a batch passes quality checks, it's decanted from the production vat into the tins and pails customers receive, filled to the correct volume and sealed to keep the product fresh until it's opened on site.
Tinting
Some products then go through a final tinting stage, where they're custom-coloured to match the wide range of shades available — or a specific sample colour requested by the customer — before being packaged and sent out the door.
